Over 10 weeks, this RP guide will be a coverage of a general outlook to roleplaying in the World of Warcraft. As a whole, it should be a guide that details aspects of the game that roleplayers can take into account when working on their characters in the game. This page, as such, is a bookmark for each of the posts made that relate to this often untapped community in Warcraft. The content matter is as follows:
- Roleplaying Basics:
- Advanced RPing:
- Additional Fragments
I hope that this guide, as a whole, will help future roleplayers understand the different aspects of character development (which is an integral part of roleplaying) as well as preparing them for the interaction with other characters that they come to meet in their travels.
Also, since I found the read very interesting and relevant even today, here is a link to a “Do’s and Dont’s of RPing a character” written by someone I only know as Ayeba. Enjoy.
For those of you not entirely interested in the roleplaying aspect of World of Warcraft and are just looking for a more general guide, Dvotee has worked on a multi-part series basically describing the ins and outs of the game mechanics and the choices you have to make simply as a gamer rather than as a roleplayer. If you haven’t played before, this could be the best starting point before considering roleplaying, as RP is a lot more detailed and involving than bashing people’s heads with a mace for game lulz. I’ll also add a few pointers along the way to reference the guide should you be at least partly interested in RP realms. Anyway, enjoy these also.
Pointer: You may want to consider starting on a Normal (PvE) or PvP Realm to begin with, as this will help give an on-hands understanding of the game and the lore behind it first-hand, with some quests referencing current lore you might want your character to know. It helps when coming to Basics 1 of the guide.
Pointer: When you do start on a roleplaying realm, character selection is possibly one of the key factors in determining knowledge, lifespan, history and the feelings a character will have even before officially beginning any roleplay. This video is a direct parallel to Basics 2 of the guide.
Pointer: As a roleplayer, you will, without doubt, need to use all of the icons, both for combat purposes and for roleplay “actions”, as some abilities come with visual perks to help emphasise and give physical representation to your actions in emotes and the like.
This will update once later videos are made available.
Thanks for the link. Glad someone can make use of some of the old stuff I’ve written.
