Wait…what?

Okay, so I said I would be back in WoW. And I’ve not gone back in a while. For those who find this (by chance or by a search of the internet), I will only say that financial circumstances have all but nosedived for all parties concerned. The problems preventing a return prior to the new year have rolled on INTO the new year and have (surprisingly) worsened. So any hopes of returning before this matter is resolved in it’s entirety are effectively shot in the knee and beyond any hope save for a miracle of some kind. There were even intentions of paying a loan, but after getting in supplies, there was only enough to pay half of what was intended – and even THAT was later withdrawn to enhance the supplies of heat and electricity – ask the goblins about that kind of nonsense…

So instead…here’s a troll skull. Trollface, anyone?

…because it needs to be said.

I’ve been putting off a potential return to World of Warcraft for some time now. People who got to know me, or maybe even had brief interactions with me in the meantime, would know that I’ve been trying to find reasons to get back into WoW like I once used to, but never really finding them in anything. And even the expansion of Mists of Pandaria hasn’t appealed to me in one iota (if anything, it’s information largely nudging towards pandas being a playable “race” (while the idea of choosing your side is an interesting idea, the rest is not) and the details in regard to non-combat pets getting to battle (to which I immediately think Pokemon – which I already have for the DS, thankyoumuch), it makes me facepalm a lot) so I have no real intention of investing for the gameplay aspect. And since Blizzard has gone the atypical road of comics and decided “Lore is for Idiots” and hit the reset button on it, I got nothing to interest me story-wise either. And the fact they’ve lost something like 3 million subscribers over the time since Cataclysm (and now started advertising WoW with Chuck Norris involved – yet another damned internet cliché) I see this boat as one that tried to fly but sprung a leak. And is now sinking into the very maelstrom it created.

Musings of a Disgruntled Tauren

As my last post went over, my faith in the current state of the RP community is reaching a fairly low level. And I’ve come to the realisation of late that I’m not the only one. Sadly, along with finding that out I also discover there’s not so much enthusiasm for roleplaying anymore. Not so much because it’s gone downhill (though it has in some cases), but because of more urgent, real life commitments. It just seems that casual RP is no longer being demanded and is becoming more direct in requiring an active timespan to participate in roleplaying. Time that very few people are able to spare or commit to of late through having other commitments outside of the game.

The Fall of the Roleplayer

I’ve come to a rather sad realisation today. What once was a hub and hive of activity is at risk of crumbling like the Gilnean Wall, and seems destined to break and never return. The strangest thing? It’s not even the Horde that is collapsing. For all my predictions on what would end up dividing utterly the Horde into a complete lack of RP,  I have actually seen RP hubs bustling with Horde activity, far from what I was expecting. In contrast, things I have seen over on Alliance side have been…far from savoury. And I can see it bringing the end of RP as ER knows it.

The Long-Expected Return

While I suppose it was inevitable that I’d be convinced to return, it’s turned to be a mixed bag of problems from my end. I’ve so far had internet issues in general, then financial issues on top of that, then when I finally get both resolved to decide my due return date, I find that I’m further set back with my “meantime” solution. I’ll go through it all in due course, because there’s an important point that should be noticed in regards to previous posts I’ve made.
