The Long-Expected Return

While I suppose it was inevitable that I’d be convinced to return, it’s turned to be a mixed bag of problems from my end. I’ve so far had internet issues in general, then financial issues on top of that, then when I finally get both resolved to decide my due return date, I find that I’m further set back with my “meantime” solution. I’ll go through it all in due course, because there’s an important point that should be noticed in regards to previous posts I’ve made.

First off, internet issues. Tiamos probably got the better mind to explain this, but in essence it’s been shit since the day I switched over. I won’t specify the company in question as the old problem could’ve been a router one and the new one could just be birthing hiccups – but on that note, if you ever invest in a Huawei router of any kind, send it back. If you disconnect from the internet, it won’t tell you that you have, and all you end up with is DNS lookup failures until you press reset. Had the problem for three-four weeks until I got the new router last week. We’ll see how the rest of the 10-11 months goes, but really don’t want to be dealing with internet problems along with everything else.

As for financially, I’m in a true pickle. Did a bit of a miscalculation about two-three months ago and I’m actually only breaking-even and saving money by the time my finances clear up a little more. It’s got that close. With that being an uncommon thing for me to come to realise, I’ve had to pull back on a lot of plans I had for the future, including the gaming plans Tiamos had in mind for that box of his…what he sees in it I’ll never know, Gnomish technology and all that. But it’s safe to say nothing will really happen at all in the next two months…except for one.

While I am partially returning on a starter account (free accounts are now called these rather than trial accounts, though it’s the same difference), I recently discovered that I can talk to some levels but not to others. While I had my own suspicions on this whole ordeal, I didn’t know the exact numbers and did a few tests to confirm that there was actually a level cap on who can hear your /s and /e actions in the box, as this is clearly no add-on fixture and other people could hear those of lower level than I was (who were on paid accounts).

So I opened a ticket…

Conversation with the GM

So you probably heard it here first. There is a limit to what levels you can speak to and emote with (the exception being standard emotes, so everyone will see you /facepalm) but as of yet I can give no confirmation as to what levels these are – and as you can see from the conversation, neither can Blizzard. The limit is somewhere between 26 and 38 however, should you wish to run your own checks on this mechanism. Chances are Blizzard may confirm the levels at which this is limited to in a future update to their FAQ, but until then I will leave them handle the business of finding out for certain. I suspect it’s going to be around Level 30, but we shall see.

So for those who find me in-game, I’ll see you there. The rest of you? I’ll see you in October.

Hey mate well it’s good to see you back. Let me know if you stay and maybe let me know what realm you’re on (I know you told me but I forgot) and I may start a char on there as well.
